Norm I Stanton has been the founder and driver of Southern Highland Vets since it’s inception more than 10 years ago. At the representative level he played for NSW in both 60’s and 70’s including the very first state of origin series. More importantly he has been the mainstay of the Southern Highlands side and has been the reason so many of us have approached our cricket in later life with renewed enthusiasm.
Early days was a struggle to get the numbers on the park and success was often elusive but Norm’s heroic efforts in keeping it going eventually paid off. Highlands are now thriving as a direct result of Norm Stanton and he remains an inspiration to all of us.
He continues to be first to arrive and last to leave, a gentleman in every sense, we say thanks Norm, well played indeed!
Special thanks to Mark Preddy for putting this video together.
